I remember Dr Herman when he interviewed me for vet school. Although we spoke for only a short time I remember him fondly. I would have liked to have thanked him for helping me into this crazy profession. Deepest sympathies to family and friends...

I was a freshmen in vet school when I went to the London Vet Hospital and started to work for Doc Herman. Doc was a tremendous mentor that took pride in teaching vet students what it meant to be in country practice. He taught us that the job went far beyond helping animal. Whenever I was asked in practice by a student to ride along and learn about practice I always remembered what Dr. Herman did for me and the friends I bought out there while I was in vet school. I always tried my best to show them the love of the profession that Dr. Herman had. He left a legacy of mentorship and will always be remembered for that.

Our daughter, Olivia Patterson, worked with Jim Herman and enjoyed every minute of it. She adored him. She loved going out to the farms with him to attend a sick animal. She spoke of him very highly. I am sure he will be missed and he will be a friend that Olivia will never forget. I am thankful that she was treated so kindly by such a wonderful man. Sincerely, Helen Swearingen (Olivia Patterson's mom)

Doc was the best vet london ever had.he really cared about his patience more than money.once i found a dog that had been hit by a car.he wanted to unload it from our car so we wouldnt get bit.he got bit.he fixed the dog which had to have surgery.he did all this out of his pocket and made sure he found the dog a good home.he kept in touch with us to let us keep updated on the dog.He took care of all our pets and if we were hard pressed for money he would bill us at his cost and let us pay on time.im sorry for your loss .He was and always will be a great man.loved and cared for by many more than he probably realized.

Mary Anne and family, Am so sorry to hear of Doc's passing. I truly loved working for him and it is a joy to know you all. Working at London Animal Hospital was one of the high points in my life, and it was a fun experience too. He was so ornery at times, but made sure business came first. Will never forget him and his sense of humor. Truly a great man. Mary Kay & Jim

Friday, March 14, 2014, the State of Ohio, the USA and possibly the world lost a great soul. James Herman was a kind man, excellent father and grandfather, community pillar and the bar to set the standards of a Godly man. It will be hard to replace such a void in all of our lives. Goodbye and rest in peace "Uncle Jim".

I was so sad to hear the Doc had died. I really loved him. He was so dear to everyone. My grandmother, Ethyl Wilson, collected canes. We were at an auction once and Doc bought a lot that had some canes in it. My grandmother asked if he would want to sell any of the canes. He gave them to her. She was delighted. He was a wonderful man. You have my deepest sympathy.

My deepest sympathy to the family. Our creator invites us to approach him in prayer, to pour out our heart to him. (Psalms 68:2) May he grant you peace, strength and comfort during this time of sadness.
