I lost contact with Jane through the years but I will never forget her. She was a wonderful friend and encourager. She made working on papers together and going to conferences fun. She was a blessing to all who knew her.

Jane contributed in a significant manner under many important headings as an accounting professor. Penn State is proud to count her as one of our Ph.D graduates. Charles Smith

Jane accepted my first published paper in JATA in late 1985. I was a PhD student. I submitted the paper, it was rejected, and I stuck it in a drawer. Jane came to Texas Tech to present a paper from IU a while later. When I met with her, she said, "didn't you submit a paper to JATA?" I said yes, but it had problems. She said, "did you show the review to any faculty members? It had no serious problem and was practically an 'accept subject to minor editorial changes'." I immediately pulled it out, edited, and resubmitted. It was accepted for 1986, just as I was hitting the rookie job market. That made my job search MUCH easier. I owe a lot to Jane from that alone. Later as I was leaving Texas Tech for Florida the summer of 1986, Jane was moving in to Tech as a chaired professor. She was a lot of fun. I'll never forget a great evening at her house that summer when I volunteered to setup her TV and cable box, etc. The cables weren't long enough to reach, so I used a couple of tax textbooks (from a rival publisher) to lift the cable box. Jane said, "finally a good use for those books." Rest in Peace Jane...you earned it. - Gary McGill

Jane was a treasured friend, mentor, and role model. Hope her cat found a great home.
