Touched by the spirit so benign
Of a young gent that sticks out in my mind
As one of my best friends in the big city
Known for heat, diverse food, and its freeways
Where him and I met over a decade back
With pursuits of doctors in pure math
Where we would meet from time to time
And write a lyric, critique a line
Of his contemporary prose
And my more classical approach
Where to this day his soul touches my heart
As I reminisce about what a man he´d become
While being a few younger than mine
And reaching such unattainable heights
Including the one beyond earthen skies

I leaned a few day ago of this tragic occurrence
Of Dr. Kenan´s unforeseen disappearance
From grounds that cover the surface
As barriers between my life and his body

And leads me to question my own doings
What purpose they hold and how much their meaning
When I could have been that same broken soldier
Who perished at war unknown to the rest of this world

He was one of the kindest and strongest
He did have his intricate or unusual moments
But all I really care to pronounce
Is written word on his unceasing presence
In the lives and hearts of so many
Those like his Salt-lake colleagues and students
His friends of all genders and backgrounds
Including my own self who stands proud
Of what he remembers of young friend Kenan
And his willful spirit that shall linger on
If nothing more will ever be spoken
By this artistic and genius comrade
Then let us all be this moment solemn
Recalling the beautiful journey he walked through
And then rise to his wishes for each of us
To love, learn, and live out abundant lives

I did not know Kenan personally but I do know his father and step mother. Kenan is a very handsome man and well accomplished in his talents and career. I am very sorry of the loss for his family and his friends. May got bless Kenan in his new home.

I met Kenan at Austin College. I didn't know them well, but from our limited interactions I found them to be kind and brilliant. So sorry to hear of their passing. May their memory be a blessing.
