Dr. Mark Alan Snyder, 69 of Cincinnati, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, with his family by his side. Born to John W. and Margaret Ann (nee Heetderks) Snyder on October 18, 1952, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Mark was an orthopaedic surgeon with Wellington Orthopaedics for many years. As a surgeon, he was known for his skill, compassion, and selflessness, as well as his passion for innovation and process improvement in healthcare.
Ministry and overseas mission work were a consistent fixture throughout Mark's adult life. In 2013, he founded Sustainable Medical Missions, a Cincinnati-based ministry impacting over 21 nations throughout Africa and Asia. Mark was active with Hope Church, where he was an elder and lay preacher.
There is nothing he treasured more than relationships with Jesus as well as his friends and family. His enjoyment with those he loved was best expressed through activities and experiences including spending time with his favorite people at the family lake house at Lake Waynoka.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Snyder.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Carol Heidt Snyder, three children, David (Jen) Snyder, Jonathan (Jessica) Snyder and Erin (Travis) Murray, one sister, Kathryn (Alan) Levit and eight grandchildren, James Snyder, Stella Snyder, Lucy Snyder, Emery Snyder, Kylie Snyder, Zoe Snyder, Gabi Murray and Kai Murray.
A celebration of life service on Tuesday, November 9th at 10am at Hope Church, 4934 Western Row Rd, Mason, OH 45040. Memorial donations may be made in Mark’s name to Sustainable Medical Missions at PO BOX 498493, Cincinnati, OH 45249.

Dr. Mark was not only a wonderful human being but also an EXCELLENT Surgeon. I can attest to that because my current young surgeon in Rhode Island asked me who did my hip operation 18 yrs ago. He wanted to talk with him about a unique procedure he used to replace my hip. After 18 years, the quality and innovation of his work is still regarded as Class A by a new generation. I am truly disappointed to learn of his passing but I am grateful to be able to say that my current physician says everything "Looks GREAT".
My Condolences to Your Family.

I was so sorry to hear of Dr Mark's passing last November. Unfortunately, I live in Central America and I hadn't been notified of Dr Mark's passing. Dr Mark replaced both of my knees and both of my mother's knees. A great compassionate, caring surgeon who will be greatly missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. RIP my friend.

My sincere condolences on the loss of Dr Mark as he was a good and gentle Dr. He replaced my right knee in 2019 and said a prayer with me before surgery. Such a wonderful soul. I am so sorry Dr. Mark has passed but his pain is no more and we have another Angel in heaven.

Mrs. Snyder and Family,
I was so sorry to just hear of Dr. Snyder's passing. My husband and I received a total of 4 knee replacements by him. He also saved me from a misdiagnosed hip disintegration which would have had me in a wheel chair for the rest of my life. Dr. Snyder was a dedicated surgeon and a true witness of his love for Jesus. May he rest in peace. Wishing you peace, strength and love.

As we celebrated my Mother's 100th birthday, we began thinking of friends from long ago. Thinking of our time in the middle east with the John Snyders, we began looking for Mark & Kathryn. We are saddened to see of Mark's passing but thankful to read of his life of accomplishments & worthy contributions to family, patients, & his faith based community. Our thoughts are with the family along with our memories of traveling with them to Petra, Jerusaleum & Palmyra while living in Beirut (1962-1963) as fellow members of the Baptist church there. With love, Patty, Phyllis, & Patricia Guy

Peace be with you all. I met Mark a few times over the years and always left with a sense of peace and goodness. Some of my Jesuit brothers were under Mark’s surgical care. What impressed them was the way he would pray with them. This was important for him in his “ministry of healing.” May he rest in peace. May the whole family and many tell of this man’s goodness and kindness.

Mark was a man after God’s own heart. He served the Greatest Physician faithfully and wholeheartedly till the end. He was a great friend and encourager to us personally and he never missed an opportunity to give counsel and be present in our ministry board meetings and events. We will forever be grateful to Mark, for caring deeply and asking us the difficult questions. We will miss you greatly dear Mark but we know that you are now in the presence of the One you loved soo much and served faithfully.

I had the privilege of knowing and working with Dr Snyder by assisting his patients with recovery items during their healing period. A common theme of gratitude they all expressed was for the individualized prayer Dr. Snyder would say with each patient before surgery. His faith in our Savior and devotion to Him are two of the many traits I appreciated and respected. Thank you for your example Dr. Snyder; may each of our lives be blessed as we emulate and serve those around us.

Mark was a leader among orthopedic surgeons in the state of Ohio. I was fortunate enough to be on the executive committee when Mark was president and he served with his usual expert ability. He was easy to work with and a great listener. I enjoyed my time working with him and am so saddened to learn that he has left us so early in life and gone home to the Lord. My most sincere sympathies extend to his wife and family.
