Dr. Robert Louis McClendon

Dear Lillian and Gail, I was so sorry to learn about Robert. Sorry that we lost contact. We played together as children, and were at UT together. In fact he was in my wedding. His Dad and my Dad were first cousins. Our Grandmothers were sisters. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dr Mc was our PCP for many, many years. We became his patients when he was at the Hillcroft Medical office. Dr Mc was such a kindhearted Doctor and his staff was always very nice to all his patients. Dr Mc worked very hard to have a practice that patients loved to come to his office and continued to return time and time again. He and his coworkers always gave that personal touch and took the time to visit with his patients. He should be very proud of his legacy in the medical world, and he will missed tremendously. I am extremely sad to hear of Dr McClendon's passing. We experienced together the pangs of internship at Jeff Davis Hospital where he showed himself to be an exemplary role model for all the interns in the face of gratuitously imposed stress. We were later colleagues in Family Medicine for many years at Memorial Southwest Hospital. Twenty years ago, while I was facing brain surgery and an uncertain future (possible death) along with my wife and three young children, Bob agreed to buy my practice in a gesture of caring that I have never forgotten. God bless you, Bob.

Dr. Mc became my Doc in 1980. I moved to the Austin area in 2008 and continued going to him until 2016. Will always compare every Doctor to him. He was a great man and will be greatly missed.

I am so saddened to hear of Dr. McClendon's passing. He was always the epitome of warmth and kindness when I was feeling ill. I trusted him with my health implicitly and his kindness and his cheerful demeanor will truly be missed. I'm so deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Mc (as I called him)! My dad first met him in the early 80's as he was selling office copiers and made a presentation to Dr. Mc. He didn't end up buying one but we ended up with the world's best doctor! Dr. Mc has been my doctor my entire life (over 33 years) & I'll never find another doctor as caring, compassionate and loving as he was!

He would always enter the exam room knocking on the door and saying "knock, knock!" On Sunday, he entered the gates of heaven....and said, "knock, knock!" as he walked into the arms of Jesus!

Praying for his family, staff, friends and patients! He was a wonderful man and is deeply missed!

Dr. Mac I remember the first day I met you, you were my final interviewer for a nursing position at Family Practice Associates of Sugar land. Right off the bat we clicked, 2 ol country boys.
