I was one of Dr Pettius caregiver ! Will be missed. My condolences to his family!!

Dr. Pettis was an extraordinary man that was wise beyond his years. I had the pleasure of having him as my professor at JCSU. He taught me more than just mathematics, but daily lessons in life that changed my life. What an amazing man. My sincere condolences to the family. God Bless

My deepest condolences during this sad occasion. Rufus, you will be greatly missed as my brother-in-law. I’ll always have fond memories of our fishing trips with Ben, back in the day. Rest In Peace Brother.

Uncle, I’m truly going to miss you. You always put a smile on my face. I’ll never forget you teasing me, but on the other hand you were truly concerned for my well being, and you always were intrigued with the happenings in my life. I enjoyed our conversations when you called, and the visits we had when I came home to SC. You never forgot who I was, and I’ll never forget you. I’ll always love you Uncle Rufus. I know you’re with your siblings causing some sort of mischief.

Dr. Pettis was a phenomenal man, leader, example, and math professor at JCSU. I had the privilege to take several math courses from him while I was a student. He made sure we knew everything we needed for class and for whatever future career path we chose. He was always fair, firm, and honest. Dr. Pettis changed my life more than I realized and I am forever thankful that I had the opportunity to be one of his students. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

I am thankful that our paths crossed at JCSU. Not only were you a brilliant person; you cared about your students outside of the classroom. Thank you for providing life long lessons that I still apply to this day. Your wisdom and intelligence will be missed. Dr. Pettis, job well done. RIP. Praying for your family.
