My dad was a huge fan of Drew. My daughter had a class with him at UNM and told him about her grandpa being a huge fan of his and would he be willing to go to his house so he could meet him. Without any hesitation he said absolutely. Drew came over and was the sweetest athlete we had ever met. Kind, funny and so polite. My dad had a Lobo basketball and Drew signed it for him. He stayed and talked with us for over an hour before he had to leave. My daughter had told him that her family was going to Hawaii and he told her please bring me a shell back. As his request he got his shell from Hawaii. Hearing the news he had past was truly heartbreaking for our family. Drew, we will always think of you during the basketball season. Prayers to your entire family.
Sincerely,
Gonzales/Stapleton Family

I was a senior at Mitty HS when Drew was a sophomore. I didn´t know him personally, except one day we spent an entire lunch period throwing a small rubber bouncy ball back and forth to each other in the gym. At one time the ball bounced up to the second level where the Freshman/ away team would sit (above the locker room), so I ran up the stairs to get it. To my surprise, Drew beat me there because he scaled the wall by rock-climbing a small black metal bar above the EXIT sign. I thought "Woah!´ I tried doing the same move a few minutes later when the ball bounced up there a second time, and I cut my forearms on the bar in the process. I guess that´s the difference between an elite athlete and myself! My friends and I went to every basketball game we could that year, home and away - Riordan, Santa Clara U, Sacramento, you name it. And Drew was the star. He would grab defensive rebounds and throw both elbows up 90 degrees, and every opponent would back away, wanting nothing to do with his dominance. As a sophomore he would take on 6´5´´ seniors like they were 7th graders. From the alley oops from CJ to the chemistry with Chiverton, Drew was a joy to watch on the court. He brought our school together that year, 2005-2006, and my friends and I continued to follow his career in college and professionally, checking YouTube videos and his stats. My condolences to his family. Rest In Peace.

Drew was literally my favorite Lobo player and I have had season tickets my whole life. I know I didn't know him personally even though it felt like it, seeing every game, interview, special event he was in as a Lobo. I know Lobo Nation is devasted. He meant so much to us all. I hope your family finds some peace in this with each other.

To be honest we lost a real one a true winner. I was able to meet Drew while in College at UNM. I played Football for the Lobos, he played Basketball for the Lobos. I vividly remember 2012 him just dominating. Being a man amongst boys on the court, grabbing crazy boards, scoring points, just dominating teams. In College all the sports team have a mutual respect on campus for all our sport's teams. We know the grind, late nights and early mornings. They were the BMOC though, and Drew was so humble, a real one, a champion, and someone whom I had a great respect for than, and now. My last memory is being at a party off campus at UNM. A majority of us athletes, Drew was towering over everyone. I remember seeing him dance aha, lol a dude like 6´8, 6´9 dancing vibing out, just imagine. Stand up, bend your knees, rock downward in like a wavy motion, and move your arms around, lol(It´s Cooler W/ music). It was different, but it was a vibe. Now you can dance in heaven and hoop w the legends. You can even meet our creator. Your legacy will live on forever. The Pack. Much love and respect for you. You even helped mold a World Champion in your brother. RIP, Drew "Drizzy" Gordon.

We met Drew as an infant as we were neighbors of his grandparents. We have always followed his career since, because of that friendship tie. He was a big baby at 3 months! Our sincere condolences to his parents and family.
