It is with great sadness that the family of Drew Hutton advise of his passing on Monday August 18, after a lengthy illness. He will be forever present in the hearts of his wife, Marcy; daughters Hailey and Mackenzie; brother Garrow (Ania); sister Jane (Geoff), and many other family and friends. Please join our family for our tribute to Drew on October 1st at 1 p.m. at the Old Timer's Cabin (9430 Scona Road).

From the day I met Drew onwards, he was a constant source of amazement to me with his non-stop enthusiasm for people & life. He was the "ultimate positive Energizer Bunny"! Drew was just that type of guy - interested & interesting! I sincerely appreciated his insight & encouragement during a certain time in my life, and for that I will always be grateful. It was helpful. But that was Drew - always a contributor to life! During our years working together I regularly noted the respect he received from others - from disparate walks of life. This occurred in large part I believe because he was always so respectful of others. A wonderful attribute from a guy who wanted everyone to be a better person Drew did more than his share of making many people better. You will be missed Drew but I know you are in a special place able to do your dream combination whenever you want - "fun runs"!

I only knew Drew through running and we had a few great battles many years ago (with him mostly winning!). He was a terrific guy and reading through these comments confirms how many people he touched and how much he will be missed. My deepest condolences to all of Drew's family.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Drew's passing. Though I'd not seen Drew in decades I remember him as a compassionate and hugely positive force in life. My condolences to Marcy, whom I also remember fondly, and to Drew's whole family, his friends, and his colleagues. I regret that I will not be able to come from Haida Gwaii to the memorial this week but will be thinking of you all.

Marcy, Hailey and Mackenzie... I've read all the wonderful tributes to Drew from those who remember him for all he was and all he did. I have thought long and hard to remember what stands out most among my memories of Drew. What I remember most was the smile, the twinkle in his eye, the warm words, the pride and the honest and deep-seated love I heard when he spoke of any one of the three of you. Drew was many things to many people, but I saw the proud husband, father and family man that perhaps others did not see. I feel your loss as 34 years of knowing a man in different roles, places and professional responsibility is hard to forget... the politics, organizing, tourism, economic development, sports, 'debriefing sessions', travels and good will... I only learned today that Drew had passed away. What a guy. Handsome, athletic and always one with a funny joke and then on his way. When Drew was a young messanger he came across a young policeman having difficulty arresting an individual for attempting to steal the Lieutenant Govenors limo. (The Lieutenant Governor was still in it) Drew assisted the young policeman and an arrest was made. Forever after with a gleeful grin he would tell the story of how he saved the young policemans life. Thanks again Drew.
