Duane Campbell

Duane Campbell (Sept 15, 1920 - June 19, 2014) . After a short stay at the Campbell River Hospital, Duane passed away on June 19th. Survived by his wife Florence (married 69 years); his son, Bruce (Rebecca); daughter, Sheila; 4 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren & much loved nieces and nephews. Duane was born, raised & worked in Southeastern Washington State. He served in the U.S. Navy in W.W. II as a Gunnar's Mate. In 1967 the couple moved to Cortes Island, living there for 30 years until diagnosed w/prostate cancer & moved to Shelton, WA. For the past 3 years, they were fortunate to return to the area that they loved. With his generous nature, infectious smile & abundance of "thank you's, Duane was embraced by all! "Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch." (part of a quote, left behind by Duane on his fridge) Special thanks to Dr. Sutherland and all the Doctors, nurses & hospital staff that have made a positive difference in Duane's life!
