Tears are running down my face. I was just going through my personal email and a note was there from June Blau indicating that Mr. Fisher had passed away. I just saw this note now. Thursday, October 5th. There is absolutely no way I would have missed the funeral had I known. We loved Mr. Fisher. He was such an incredible person and I couldn't have asked for a better neighbor. Mr. & Mrs. Fisher were surrogate grandparents to Lindsay & Jordan and were simply the best. I know that they are in heaven together again. I am so saddened by the loss. I always think of them every day as I walk down the back alley and every time I hear bagpipes playing. Duncan was such a nice, pleasant man. He will live on in all of you. I am so sorry. I just found out now. He lives on in each of you and keep your memories close to your heart. They will bring you peace and solace Take Care. Love Kelly

I always enjoyed visiting with Duncan at Scottish events around Regina, such as Rotary Burns lunches where he of course played the pipes. A true gentleman! My condolences to you all...for auld lang syne.

I grew up on Atkinson Street and every one of us kids who did knew Mr. Fisher. He was friendly, outgoing, and always said hello.
We all knew that Mr. Fisher played hockey in the United States. He would leave in September and return in either April or May depending on how successful the season was for the team.
Back in those days everyone on the 27 block Atkinson knew the names of the neighbours, which house they lived in and what children belonged to what house and their names.
Mr. Fisher was the first person outside of my family who I thought of as a role model. He was down to earth and not pretentious and always had a moment to talk to anyone.
Years later when I was travelling through Regina I saw him at the CIBC. We had a friendly conversation catching up on events in both our lives. After seeing Mr. Fisher my mind wandered back to my younger days and I remembered interactions with Mr. and Mrs. Fisher and Duncan and Heidi.
On behalf of my brother Roy and me, we offer the Fisher family our deepest condolences on the passing of an exemplary person. It was a pleasure and honour to have known him.

Dunc, was known as Grandpa Dunc in our family, the one who lived in the gingerbread house! Bagpipes for every celebration! I think our children believed 'Scotland the Brave' was the birthday song!
Dunc was my hero. He faced having both knees replacements done at the same time! His first replacement, years earlier, required a redo. I was nursing in the operating room when he was booked. Dr Smith asked him if had changed his mind, in regard to having both done that day. Dunc replied, "Get this damn thing started, I ve got things to do, places to go!' Dunc was the poster child for this very painful and long surgery. He truly was a star when it came to the rehabilitation, he never looked back.
Our deepest sympathies are extended from myself, Gavin, Berit and Rhys.
Dunc was lovely man. He lived his journey well

My sincere condolences to Dunc's family on you loss - I have many fond memories of my friend, from Dunc's days playing for the Pats in '46,and on to the NY Rangers and playing in the Stanley Cup final in '50 and on to many spectacular years in the AHL before retiring and returning to Regina, and with Doreen brightening all our lives. And of course to his being an accessory to teaching me to play the pipes badly! We remember the parties and cross-country skiing in the park, on the lake and even in the cemetery! We moved to Calgary 15 years ago and visits have been seldom since - the last being when I went back to attend his well deserved induction into the Sports Hall of Fame - and the yearly phone calls. I will miss his happy smiles and wonderful sense of humour. I do wish I could have heard him pipe once more my favorite tune "The Dark Isle"!!
