I just came across Pastor Davis' obituary. He was our pastor in Germany. He was the 3rd Pastor of Faith Baptist Church(formerly known as First Baptist Church of Kaiserslautern, Germany). His youngest son, Mike, is 2 years older than me. I see my dad and Pastor Davis talking with the Apostle Paul.

Such warm memories of my Uncle Durward and Aunt June, which touch me so! I think of all the terrific emails Durward and I exchanged back and forth which made my day! My Mom, was almost two years older than he, told of how close she and Uncle Durward were growing up during The Great Depression when everyone else was out of the house, she took care of him, and he her. The photos I included several yrs ago I colored and blew up here of their dog Patsy and how he grabbed Patsy one day when they heard the dog-catcher was near, he picked that picked that big dog up and ran back with her to the house and Mom said that Patsy would wait at the same place to greet him from school! I colored that picture of Mom, Durward, Patsy, Richard, my precious Grandmother Leone! And my Grandmother would say during his football days at Tech High as a star quarterback, that the crowd would chant, Put brains in! Put brains in!! Which is what he was was in many ways for the Lord! He much work for the Lord as a pastor. And missionary in Iran where they were almost put in jail and not allowed to leave but the Lord was there and didnt allow it! And he founded in Germany which is today the largest Christian Church in Europe there in Kaiserslautern. It warms my heart that I was able reconnect him with Faith Baptist in the days before he passed and went to be with the Lord. He was thrilled, and I was so very happy and blessed that was able to reconnect with them. It was only fitting. I miss you so much, Uncle Dur!

Dear June, we are so sorry to have just find out today that your precious husband, Durward, is no longer here on earth but rejoice that he went to be with our Lord. Our annual Christmas e-Newsletter was returned so I tried calling your phone number and found that it had been disconnected. I am so thankful that Julia Davis has kept this Guest Book up permanently. We cherish our years that we were next door neighbors at Raintree Village, Clearwater, to you both. What a wonderful man he was...so jolly, filled with the Lord, quite the tease, always put a smile on our faces. His life touched so many. June, you are a wonderful, kind hearted woman who loves the Lord and are such a blessing. We're still where you left us in Raintree Village at the same phone number. Wish I could talk with you. We both are on Facebook if any of your family or friends are...that may be an easier way to get in touch with me if you don't have my phone number. Please feel free to message me any information you may have. Durward, looking forward to seeing you and getting caught up in heaven one day. Loved your stories, love for the Lord and love for us. You are truly missed. Until we see you again.

I was a young girl when Bro.Davis was my minister at Salvisa Baptist Church in Salvisa, Kentucky. I remember how we all loved him and Mrs.Davis and the kids. I had the privilege of getting to reconnect with them by phone and e-mails in the past few years and we had a great time reminiscing. He touched many lives.

I am the son of Rebecca Davis Thurmond, my uncle Durward (Dur) Davis' sister. My mom went to be with the Lord this past Jan. My thoughts and prayers are with my precious aunt June & family. My mom & I simply adored Dur. Of course, he was a missionary in Iran & Germany, and founded a church in the latter that is still thriving. Further, he was quite a quarterback at Tech High in Atlanta, & also in the Semi-Pro League. But his contributions to me personally have been so very comforting, and enlightening. I would not take anything for sharing his many wonderful emails he would send me. And when I was down, I could always count on his deep wisdom in the Lord to uplift & see me through. He had such a deep & humble faith. And after a phone conversation, he would always end with prayer before we hung up. He was the real deal, and he shall always be in the deepest part of my heart. Love You, Unc Dur. See You Soon!
