Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 20 to Jan. 21, 2016.
Durwood Micheal Kirby, 66, of Hollister MO. died January 17th 2016. "Woody" Kirby, son of Hillard and Jessie Kirby of Rose Hill IA, passed away on January 17th in the presence of his dear family in Ft. Worth, TX after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by two sons Kelly and Kyl. Woody served the people of the State of Missouri as a Probation and Parole officer until his death. He was an ardent lifelong fisherman who loved nature, the lake, and his fellow man. Woody was always ready to aid, counsel, or console those around him in times of need--he was a Shepard of men. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and co-workers. Private services will be held in Branson this weekend for family and friends

Woody, you will be missed by so many people. Whenever I see a fishing boat or a beautiful and peaceful body of water I have and always will think of you. You always had a story to tell most of which were about your experiences with the people of the Ozarks, whom you respected and loved dearly. Your ability to make people laugh and feel good about life was a reflection of yourself. When I was stricken with CIDP and couldnt walk it was you who found me my first wheel chair. You were such a good man and truly walked through life as an example. We are all better people for knowing you. Have a peaceful rest, my dear friend and colleague, until our Father awakens you. Shalom, Susan Schranz
