Preceded in death by his parents.
Survived by his wife of 42 years Carolyn Whitehurst of Corinth, MS.
Daughters Jana Cagle her husband Rev. Jonathan, Andrea Coleman her husband Anthony, Brother Gerry Whitehurst his wife Jaylene, grandchildren McKinsey and Isabella Coleman all of Corinth, MS. Host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Napier officiating. Burial will follow with Masonic Honors in the Box Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery

I last saw Dwain in 1986. He was as I remembered him when he was a teenager, light hearted and warm. He had heard God's call and answered it. I am sure there is joy in heaven as he is reunited with Martin and Mildred.

Bro. Dwain was an exemplary model of a Southern Christian man, from his role as pastor, husband, friend to father. As much as his parishoners will miss him and remember him for the minister he was, that will be small compared to the loss felt by Carolyn, Jana, Andrea, Jonathan and Anthony. His last conversation with me was all about Isabella and McKinsey. I am so sorry. The Smart family remember him fondly for the many visits to Mama during her illness and death. I wish I had told him how much he meant to me during that time. Jacky and I will remember him always.
