Thinking about you again, my friend. It's been so long and the times were so special. So many nights spent walking the dogs and hanging out in the alley for hours afterwards... I'll never forget you. I miss you.

My heart goes out to the friends and family of Dylan- although I didn't know him very well I will never forget him. I met Dylan when he was still a student at Renert tutoring. Even as a student I could tell he was special. Behind his quick wit and quarks he possessed something deeper; an intelligence, a compassion, and wisdom that was beyond his years. Its been 5 years since I've seen Dylan but he left an impression on me that will last a life time. I send my condolences out to everyone that has been in his life

Dylan was awesome. I don't think I ever saw him express a negative emotion of any kind; he was always so laid back, patient, understanding, friendly, and just generally a happy person. Out of all of us in IB he was the one who probably looked the least like he should have been there was never a point where any of us would question his presence - he was understated in his brilliance.

I was in a lot of his classes throughout high school and keep thinking back on random moments; I remember definitely working with him on a project on Uruguay in 10th grade for Spanish class. It was great because he was just so easy to work with. He was so easy to get along with, so easy to have a conversation with.

One of my favourite memories is probably from the last day of grade 11, when he brought in this bottle of hot sauce and dared us all to try it... I definitely couldn't handle it and he actually gave me a litre of milk just to try to help me out there. Haha, he was just a fun guy to be around.

When we went on camping trips I always ended up riding in his truck. He was definitely the greatest guy to ride with.

So this plain and simple sucks. It sucks so much because he was such an amazing person. He touched a lot of people's lives whether they were aware of it or not. Always a pleasure to be around, always a great friend. You're awesome, Dylan.

I did not know Dylan well, but we often worked together in IB classes at Wise Wood and he made me laugh. I will remember him as the guy who slept or doodled at the back of the class, surfacing to answer a question in a way us IB nerds never could have come up with in a million years. He was wiser, more worldly than us all, placing little importance on appearances. At a time when other peers ignored or belittled me, his attitude was refreshing. I later ran into Dylan a few times at the University of Calgary. He always smiled and was friendly. I am very sorry for your loss.

We were heartbroken to hear of the loss of Dylan. I remember the day he was born and how proud Kenny and Liz were. He was a sweetheart of a little boy and talking with Liz, he grew up to be a kindhearted young man. Our thoughts are with you at this most difficult and sad time.

I wish I had the chance to get to know Dylan better. I had the privilege of working with him at Renert this past year, and although we didn't cross paths too often, I always smiled when I saw him walk in the door. He was such an intelligent, funny, kind, and approachable person. He touched so many lives and will be missed.

I'm so sorry for his families loss.

Me and Dylan had a lot in common. I remember all the times me and him would just hang out, play video games, listen to music and randomly jam. I could tell him anything, and I know he would truly understand and help everyone through their problems. He was an incredibly intelligent guy, with a big heart. Dylan has touched so many lives, mine being one of them. He was my best friend for the past 3 years, and I love him like a brother.

My deepest sympathies for his family and friends. He will be missed by many, and everyone will cherish the memories made with him. I know I'll never forget about him, and how great of a guy he was. Dylan was my brother, my best friend, my teacher, and will always be loved.

Love,
Brian Kehler.

My sincere condolences to the whole family. Dylan's passing has opened a pit of deep sadness in my heart. Nova Lee & Trevor, I cannot imagine the depth of your grief at this loss of your precious child. No parent should have to experience this pain. Dylan had so much potential, his gifts will be missed by many more than those whose lives he touched in his short time here. God Bless you and may you find comfort in His Word

You will be incredibly missed Dylan. You were the funnest guy to have around, and I knew I could always count on you for a hug and support. You were one of my closet high school friends, and I can never convey how much I remember those moments. You were special, you had an impact.

July 13, 2012

Dylan Brown was my closest friend ever, he was in all essence a brother to me. It's weird coming to terms that I will no longer be able to stay at his place and play video games with him all night till 8am, finally passing out on the blanket mattress on the floor with Penny and Piper... and getting up at 9am to give Zoey art lessons, because no matter how tired or how unmotivated I was, Dylan always convinced me otherwise just to make sure that his little sister got to have fun to. That was the kind of person Dylan was, even though he looked tough and menacing, he always took care of the people around him first (even if he hated admitting to it), and he didn't want praise, thanks, or acknowledgement, because he was happy caring for those he loved and seeing them happy. I will cherish my memories of him dearly and closely.

Dylan was quirky, lovably weird, creative, nerdy, incredibly book and life smart, a musical genius, a loving and proud son, both a mentor and guardian for his brother and sister, a committed and loyal friend, a talented and highly demanded tutor, a guitar-aficionado, a loyal customer and recruiter for Chicken On The Way, a long-haired metal head who knew how to dress better than most guys out there but loved his cameo pants and band t's, an anime and Yuffie lover, a compassionate and loving human being, a great comedian with a unique way of making us all smile, an advocate for long hair, a naturally talented anime illustrator with a passionate drive in life and an amazing curiosity in the world around him, and when he put his mind to something (anything) he always succeeded. Dylan was all these things and so so so much more, and he continues to be everything and anything through his friends and family; our love and our memories keep his dreams alive and accomplish his goals and aspirations.

Dylan was truly a one of a kind human being, and he always left a lasting mark on those he met. I know that all of you who knew him will agree; the friendships and relationships we all shared with Dylan were true, genuine, weird, quirky, fun and will transcend a lifetime. Dylan, where ever you are now; you will be missed dearly, thought of and remembered always, spoken of fondly by your friends and family, and the love we all have for you transcends time and life itself. I'm immensely sad and torn to see you go, but the memories we share will always bring a smile to my face and a familiar warmth in my heart.

Remember Dylan for who he was, for his dreams and his goals, for his support in who we were and have become, and for his belief in our dreams. Respect him like he did all of us; please remember that when you talk about him that it's not our position to speculate, to guess, to pass on, to spread, or to support information about what happened. Our words give form and meaning to our loved friend and what he left of himself in us. What happened to him is not important, what's important is that he is gone now and it is our duty to keep him alive in our words, hearts, and thoughts true to who he was and will be.

Please take a moment to sign his Memorial (Guest) Book. Show his family your support and love and give them your condolences; kind words ease the pain and loss and unifies us for Dylan.

PS. If somehow your reading this from wherever you are Dylan, come over to my place sometime and I'll dust off my N64 and we can play Zelda again like old times, I'll even hunt down a Chicken On The Way and grab us some Nacho Cheese Doritos and Fresca :)

A legendary and truly beautiful mind and human being. Thank you Dylan for showing me a million and one different perspectives and ideas that my head alone could never fathom discovering without your guidance. Even though we didn't a lot done at Renert I learned so much about life just talking to you and sharing ideas. Please be free forever and to your family, thank you for blessing us all with such an incredible person. He will be missed dearly and held at the highest regard in my heart.

I'll miss you Dylan.

It is with immense sadness that I am writing this.
Dylan was one of our most sought-after tutors. Liked by all, colleagues and a students alike. He was witty, bright, kind and funny, and had a very bright future ahead of him.

I will miss him dearly.

I went to school with Dylan from Grades 3-9, and was lucky enough to become close friends with him during the later years of that time. He was one of those people that was always willing to give someone a chance, and that was one of the things that naturally drew people to him. His constant smile was another. Dylan helped me through a really rough time- even after we lost touch for a while- without a second thought, and I don't think he ever realized how much he affected the people around him. The world lost something special when it lost Dylan, and my heart goes out to his family and anyone else whose heart was touched by him throughout his life. He will be greatly missed.
