Dylan Kazda Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 11, 2025.
Dylan Jay Kazda, 17, passed away on March 26, 2025, in Salton City, California.

Born on October 27, 2007, Dylan brought a spirit of curiosity and independence from the very beginning. Raised in Lewiston, Idaho, he had a deep love for the outdoors-hiking, camping, and riding along the levee were among his favorite pastimes. He earned youth badges through the Forest Service with his Father.

In 2020, Dylan moved with his family to Thermal, California, where he enjoyed being close to his aunt Dana, uncle Peter, and cousins Priscila, Gary, Savannah, and Nicolas. He embraced new experiences and developed a fondness for tamales, tortas, and other local foods.

When in-person school resumed, Dylan found a meaningful connection with his teacher and coach Mr. McGee. He joined the cross country team and ran for two years, traveling to places like Catalina Island. Cross country became one of his greatest passions. He also enjoyed coding and excelled in advanced math classes. A skilled chess player, he taught others the game and rarely lost a match.

Dylan is remembered for his intelligence, independence, and sharp sense of humor. Though the last few years were challenging as he navigated a difficult time in life, he was supported by true friends who meant a great deal to him.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather Wayne Ketchum, uncle Russell, and aunt Darcey. He leaves behind his mother Alicia; father Jeremy; brother Luke; sister Ruth; grandparents Carol and Gary; grandmother Norma; aunt Loretta; aunt Patty; gammy Patricia; and many extended family members and friends.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
