OBITUARY LT. E. SCOTT RICHARDSON Passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on Thursday, December 9, 2004 in North Vancouver, BC. He will be deeply missed by his wife of nearly 60 years, Frances Madeline Smith of North Vancouver; sister, Irene Walker-Harris of North Carolina; daughters, Karen Richardson of Ste. Eugene and Andrea Richardson (Clive Grandfield) of Toronto; seven grandchildren, Courtenay Anne, Scott Rhys, Chance and Pierce of Ottawa and Vancouver and Charles and Julia of Toronto; as well as his nephews, nieces and in-laws. Born in Hawkesbury, Ontario, Scott Richardson was a veteran of WWII (1941-1945), a member of the Officer's Mess, The Black Watch (RHR) of Canada and a graduate of McGill University in 1949. His work in mediation and arbitration was characterized by a sense of fairness and a pursuit of creative problem solving. He touched many in his life with his spirit of openness and enthusiasm for debate and dialogue. His questions and insights will be much missed. A memorial service is planned in Vancouver in early 2005 (TBA). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Lions Gate Hospital Palliative Care Unit (in North Vancouver, BC) or to McGill University (Montreal).
