Earl Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 29 to Dec. 31, 2009.
Earl Francess Allen, or Uncle Earl as most of us knew him, spent the last couple decades of his life back in Kentucky where most of his time was shared with the family of Fred and Lou Ann Patton. Lou Ann was his niece.Earl was full of adventure, loved to travel and dearly loved his music and old western books and movies. Earl donated his entire collection of the popular Louis L'Amour books to the Laurel County Library a few years ago.Suffering from polio as a child, you would recognize Earl anywhere as he was always on crutches. He could still outrun most of us. As we are deeply saddened by his passing at this special time of the year, we will remember many things about Uncle Earl forever.Earl Francess Allen was born Sept. 10, 1932, in Laurel County, Ky., the son of George and Nancy Jane Burns Allen, who preceded him in death. He is survived by two sisters, Pansy Greene and Elsie Conlin, both of London, a special niece, Lou Ann Patton of London, plus a host of other relatives and friends both in London and across the country to mourn his passing.Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Demrie, Nick, Bill, Henry and George Allen, Virgil Evans, Mollie Alzmann, Rachel Marcum and Hazel Smith. He was a former employee of Baton Rouge Lumber Company and was of the Baptist faith.Earl Francess Allen departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, being 77 years, 3 months and 10 days of age.Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Grimes and Wilmer Evans officiating.Burial followed in Warrens Grove Cemetery in London.Visitation was after 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home.
