Earl Avalon Obituary
He was born April 15, 1922, in Medford, Mass., where he went to school and spent many summers in Albion, Maine, with his dad Benjamin Bill Avalon at Ella Walcott Farm. There his dad taught him country life: fishing, hunting, camping, and raising homing pigeons, which later turned into his love for parrots.
He was in World War II from 1942 to 1946 and upon returning to civilian life, he settled in Waterville, Maine, and married Thelma Wagner of South Freedom, in 1945. He worked for the VA in Togus for six years and then started as a letter carrier in Waterville. He moved to Anaheim, California in 1959 where he continued to be a postal carrier, and retired in Buena Park, California.
He was a Mason for 59 years. Lodge 33, Chapter 52, Mt. Lebanon Council 13.
He and his wife celebrated their 60th anniversary on Jan. 18, 2005.
He had a short illness and passed away of natural causes.
Earl Avalon is survived by his wife, Thelma, and many dear friends.
Services were conducted by Chaplin and Masons in Anaheim, California Pierce Brothers Mortuary. AMVETS performed a graveside ceremony at Anaheim Cemetery.
