Lawrence Bzdon Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" J. Bzdon, son of the deceased Stanley and Louise (Styrkowicz) Bzdon, was born on March 17, 1941, and died on March 15, 2023.
Survivors include his sister, Sister Marcianne Bzdon, SSND; and his wife, Joan (Sykstus) Bzdon; and many cousins.
Larry served in the United States Army, and later served as a fireman in the city of Chicago for 21 years, beginning in April of 1970, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant in May of 1991. He loved fishing, cooking, traveling, and working as a trainer and exhibitor of his many Rottweiler dogs.
Cremation services were provided by Kolbus Funeral Home, Chicago, Illinois.
A Memorial Mass and Service will be held on April 15th, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Andrew Parish, Rock Falls, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Atlantic Midwest Province, 6401 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21212.

I just learned of Larry's passing by chance. I knew Larry for more than 20 years. We trained our dogs together, he Rottweilers and I German Shepherd Dogs. He was a member of my Dog Club and he was also my mentor and teacher with regard to art of dog tracking. He was the best tracking handler I ever knew or saw. Besides all of this, he was just a good all round guy and a good friend. When he retired from dog training I did not see him often but I did a few years back called him for advice and as always, it was excellent.

I'm so glad that we got to reconnect our friendship with our monthly brunches. I've known Larry since I was 12 and my husband was as happy to get to know him at the brunches. Larry was always such a nice guy. Our deepest sympathy to you and our prayers for him that he is happy and pain free. Judy and Jake Mueller
