First had an English Lit class in high school with Eben...he was always funny and up to trouble. Once climbed out the window in class without the teacher noticing. I was new to the school and just moved from the East Coast, but he made me feel completely comfortable. Later so happy to find out we were both at Humboldt and had friends in common. Just thought of him out of the blue today and googled him....

I don't have a father, and Eben was my father figure from the first time I met him. He was hilarious, kind, and happy, even when he was struggling with cancer. I can't believe he's gone. I'm in shock. I will miss him terribly. Rest in peace Eben, we'll all miss you so much.

I met Eben (and Xander) briefly back in 1982, I think; nice folks. They were among those that made SWAS a pleasant place even for a visitor (a SWASie who didn't know he was one yet?). My condolences to everyone who knew him -- friends and family.

I send my sincere condolences, to Eben's wife and family.

I went to SWAS with Eben. I hadn't seen him since the mid 1980s, but I've always felt lucky, just to have known him. I didn't know him well; to me, he was a great listener, and simply supported me, in a moment of need.

Now, I teach my daughter, and remind us all, to take the time to support a friend, even when it's not a close friend. Simple gestures of concern and listening, can really make a positive difference, in someone eles's life, and I shall continue to do so, and remember Eben fondly.

Goodbye Eben, my old friend.

I went to SWAS with Eben. The last time I spoke to him, I believe was back in 1991. My condolences to his family.
