Some years ago I had the opportunity and pleasure of spending a few hours with Ed in a large tent at Jones Beach for the Memorial Day celebration. Ed was a great raconteur and amazingly modest about his career. And he treated me almost as a colleague (I definitely wasn't!) Ed was REALLY nice man!!

A favorite of so many fans, he was with the Mets through the ups and down. A great and dedicated member of the Mets.

I met Eddie a few times. What a gentleman.
The first time was in the early 70's when he and Ron Swoboda came to our Mall in Rockland County in NY. They both signed Styrofoam baseballs.
The other times I met Eddie was when he came to my hometown of Suffern NY. He appeared at our Sabrett's Hotdog store. Always a pleasure to chat with.
May Ed rest in peace and know he is in no more pain and suffering.
Thanks for your memories Eddie.

Mr. Kranepool was a boyhood idol of mine. I thanked him in person during an autograph session at Roosevelt Field for the 1969 championship season. He was gracious, affable, and signed a 1971 yearbook along with Tommy Agee and Art Shamsky. He was and is a class act! May he rest in peace!
