Sending all our love and condolences to the entire family! I never had the honor of meeting Mr. Hildreth, but I know he was a wonderful man because I know his wonderful daughter, Karen. The apple never falls far from the tree. Thank you, Mr. (And Mrs.) Hildreth for your brave service to this country!! You, sir, are a hero in my eyes! May you rest peacefully in the presence of our Lord and Savior!

Words cannot express how sad we are to learn of the passing of your husband and father. Dr. Hildreth was a wonderful person who was a blessing to many people. He was an "encourager" - a person who made one feel hopeful -- no matter the situation. He had a "heart" for people.

We will keep you in our prayers at this difficult time -- that our Lord will grant you His Peace, Comfort and Strength. He has not abandoned you. He loves you more than you can imagine. He is Able ---and Faithful.

A good heart has stopped beating, a good soul rose to heaven and closer to God. He was the best husband, father, grandfather and friend. He never met a stranger. He had 2 b a blessed man growing up and being born in the 1930's in Indiana a blackman 2 accomplish all he has Im proud 2 b apart of his family and y love and sympathy go out,but look on the bright side heaven has another angel much love and praing 4 u.

Your will miss your husband greatly, but like Jesus when He heard of John's death, draw privately in a lonely place and draw upon his strength and the love of Christ who is ever present. Remember his good qualities and there were many and emulate his virtues. Take comfort in knowing that our earthly associations in life are temporary and broken only to be reunited later and that reunion is eternal

Offering prayers for a fallen Soldier.

I know Dr. Eddie Hildreth through Dr. Gladys Hildreth in 2002 when I was a doctorate student and both of them were working at the University of Kentucky. They treat me like their own child. I was a new driver then, Dr. Eddie Hildreth was willing to sit by me and coached me to drive around their neighborhood. During holidays, my son and I were invited to their house for family get-together. May Father Eddie Hildreth rest in peace, he will live in our hearts.

No obituary can adequately reflect the person that Dr. Eddie Hildreth was and the added value that he brought to Southern University and its surrounding communities. He was generous to a fault; cared about the University and the community; and spent numerous hours and his own resources to ensure that his beloved students were not denied exposure to the best learning opportunities. In retirement, he did not rest and never missed any chance to ensure that others were taken care of. Our neighborhood will miss his occasional visits. May Our Lord bring your family peace and your fond memories be a consoling presence in this difficult time.

No one can prepare you for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. However, take comfort in knowing that your dad is now resting in the arms of our Lord. Our deepest condolences to you and your family.

When " Jr " is what we called our cousin would come home to Hammond what a time, what a time!!!! LAUGHTER/ SOME LIES( :) My mother, Sadie's house was full to capacity. FOOD,FOOD and more Food. and would stay until 11pm or later. ,After saying all of that, RIP dear cuz. I will miss you.

I thanked him many times for his thoughtfulness and his sharing during my career development. He was definitely a God sent angel to his students. We will love you and miss you always.

My friend and colleague Eddie was a man who extended himself to get all the good available in the world out on the table. He then used it for himself, his family and friends. He then added to it and impacted his institutions and then for the good of all who crossed his path. I and my family benefited greatly from being part of his circle of life.

To the Hildreth Family: Dr Hildreth was a great mentor and friend to young colleagues during his tenure at Southern. His work with the Southern University Business and Industry Cluster solidified partnerships which still exist today.
