I have never met her but was so proud of her and felt so blessed to have her in Congress as a black educated women. I am part of a group who established My Sister's Keeper becasue of health care disparities and treatment of black women. Doing research on it and have written a book about it. It is real but She and you all can hold your heads up high in Jesus' name. Blessings and Prayers Shirley Fennell.

Remembering the call I made to her asking for Pres. Obama Inauguration tickets. With deepest sympathy but with huge admiration for the much needed public service she gave us. Cheryl Stubblefield, UAW #129 President

At a State Democratic Party Convention I was standing in front of an elevator when the doors opened. There was the Congresswoman alone. I spoke and asked her where was her escort. She smiled and said, "I don't have one". I asked her to allow me to accompany her to a safer area since it was obvious neither of us should be in such an isolated area. I introduced myself and we went off together having a polite, but brief chat. Whenever I saw her on TV I reflected on our encounter. She was delighted to learn I was a 1979 Congressional Black Caucus Intern. Though brief, it was my honor to serve her. She has her crown.

A hardworking and dedicated representative for so many. First working as a nurse, then in public office, her determination and desire to help never wavered. Heartfelt condolences to the Johnson family, so very sorry for your loss. God be with you all to help you through your time of loss.

Eddie Bernice Johnson was my next door neighbor growing up as a child. She was a very sweet and gentle woman I remember. I remember going over her house and she and my mother speaking as a child. As I grew older into teenage and adult years I then realize WHO I grew up next door to! I was so amazed and so proud of who she was.
