Edgar "Mookie" Glapion

Edgar 'Mookie' Glapion, 41, of Minneapolis, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2004. He was born Sept. 23, 1962 to Edgar and Willie Laura (Bingmon) Glapion in Chicago, Ill. Growing up in Chicago, Mookie was an avid baseball player and enjoyed working in his grandmother's grocery store. He spent many hours playing the guitar given to him by his uncle when he was a youth. Mookie moved to Duluth as a young adult, and fell in love with the many lakes that enabled him to engage in one of his favorite pastimes-fishing. He also enjoyed cooking. It was here where Mookie raised his eldest daughter, Ashley (16). A few years later, he moved to Minneapolis where he worked as a security guard and a factory worker in a warehouse. Mookie enjoyed spending quiet time with his family and friends, and always used his generosity to help others in need. Mookie was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, Willie Glapion; five children, Ashley of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Rea and Miles of Duluth, Minn., Mookie and Louigi of Minneapolis, Minn.; one brother, Ronald Jones of Brookyn Park, Minn.; one aunt, Mary Reff of Atlanta, Ga.; and a host of relatives; cousins; and friends.
