I had the pleasure of working for Ed in 1969 at Leslie Toyota. He had such a marvelous sense of humor. I was aware that he drove James Garner´s car, but I had no idea about all his other accomplishments! I knew his wife, Betty, and his son, Leslie. Leslie was personality plus. Ed made my job so much fun, and I will never forget him. He was truly a great man. My sincere condolences to his family.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Leslie. Hy dad was very fond of him, and I got one of my first cars from him, a Triumph Spitfire. I was also lucky to have watched him race many times at Laguna seca, and was there in I think 1969 to see him finish 2nd to Mark Donahue in the Trns Am Series. He was a great driver and a great man.

May 6, 2005 I met Ed in 1953 in Vacaville, CA while he was stationed at Travis AFB. I owned an MG sports car at the time and shared an interest in cars with him. I worked SCCA races at about the same time Ed raced his MGA. Knew his family and had the pleasure of staying in his home on race week-ends. He was a good friend and a great guy - he'll be missed by many race enthusiasts.

As a budding race driver I bought my first car, a Morris Mini, from Ed in 1963. (I never was able to get my racing career off the ground, but I did become a pilot.) I followed Ed’s racing career closely because I always thought of him as the hometown guy who made good racing with the big boys. I only got to see him once after I left Monterey; when I had the opportunity to talk with him at a Trans Am race in Dallas Texas - he asked me if I still had the Mini.

A truly gracious man and I am very sorry for your loss.

I met Ed in Sports Car racing, and was lucky enough to be one of his team mates on Jim Garner's AIR. I always admired Ed as the guy who had done everything. His great since of humor will be sorly missed.
