Edith Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 22, 2025.
Edith Avant Anderson went to be home with the Lord on April 17, 2025. She was born January 5, 1928, in Melrose, Fl. to the late George Luther Avant and Sadie Marie Brewer.

Edith was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Anderson and parents.

Edith is survived by her children: daughter, Linda Jenkins; son, David Anderson (Lynn), son, Lamont Anderson (Peggy) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren and many more beloved friends and family. Edith was always the happiest around family and friends.

Edith was a military housewife and kept the household running while her husband was away serving his country. She loved her family very deeply and was always volunteering to help out in any way she could. Bill always said that he was going to outlive her because he wanted to know at the end, how he turned out with all of her expert, loving, training.

She was a faithful longtime member of Murray Hill Baptist Church and along with her husband Bill, worked with many different age groups and depts. Edith and Bill both loved dancing and are now dancing together with all the other angels in heaven with God.

Edith was one of the sweetest people I've ever known. She always had such a joy of life, springing from her love of the Lord. I will always have many fond memories of her & her sweet Bill. She taught my grandsons to swim, and only allowed me to stay for lessons if I could "sit right there with your mouth shut" lol. I know she entered God's presence hearing "well done, thou good and faithful servant."

I truly wouldn't be here if it weren't for Mrs. Anderson. Her introduction of my parents brought me to life and I'm eternally grateful for it. My fondest memories are with the Andersons and my grandparents on Friday night for coupon dinners and Lee High School football games. Win or lose it was always a treat for me. Love to the Anderson family and the friends that might as well have been.

Butch and I would never have met if it hadn't been for Edie. She thought we would be a good match for each other and she was right. Fifty-eight years later we're still thanking her for introducing us and being our sweet friend through the years of being newly married, raising babies and grandbabies. She was an inspiration to us both and we were so fortunate to have her as a friend.

Best 2nd mom ever! I will always remember her smile and her laughter. Thank you, Mrs. Anderson, for being such a good role model for me growing up.
