Edith Dineen Bailey, affectionately known as Edie, was born on July 15, 1964. She transitioned to glory the evening of March 21st at home in
Lawrenceville, Georgia, surrounded by the love and laughter of her children.
Edie was born in West Virginia. She is the daughter of the late Zadabell Mosby and James Johnson. She is the youngest of six children and the baby girl of the family.
Raised in the countryside of West Virginia, she developed her wits and determination at a very young age. She was always active, playing and excelling in a host of sports, including softball and basketball.
As a supportive military wife, traveling with her husband around the world, she served in several different professional capacities before making a career at Parker's. Working her way up from a cashier to a district manager, she proved that hard work has always been a part of her core belief system. She dedicated 25 years of her life to the company and the people who worked there.
Known to most of her staff as "Boss Lady", she helped shape the careers of so many that came across her path. She was always willing to mentor and share knowledge to lead others and herself to success.
Edie went back to school later in life and received an associate degree in criminal justice, continuing to prove that there is nothing she couldn't do.
Edie was a dedicated mother, first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grammie.
Edie is preceded in death by her husband, Andre Bailey; both parents and one brother, Stanford Johnson.
Edie is survived and missed by her two daughters, Andrea (James) Andrews of
Havre de Grace, Md.; and SaRhonda Bailey of
Lawrenceville, Ga. She is forever cherished and remembered by her two grandsons, Ayden Jackson and Jason Andrews, tenderly known as Grammie's Boys. There are also a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends who will miss her dearly.
May we continue to cherish the memories she has filled our hearts and spirits with for years to come. May we hold on to the vibrant energy, her take-charge personality and her giving spirit. May God continue to bless her as He welcomes her into His kingdom while continuing to bless those still here on earth.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Dorchester Funeral Home, 7842 East Oglethorpe Highway, Midway, GA 31320.
