EDITH B. PENFIELD

Edith B. Penfield 1932-2010 Edith Bernley Penfield, 77 years old, died unexpectedly April 22, 2010 at her home in Novato, CA. It was sudden and over quickly. She was born December 21, 1932, in Saltpetre Cave, VA, in the family home with the doctor and her father handling the delivery. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class at Eagle Rock, VA High School. She was also first in her family to receive a college degree. She graduated from Lynchburg College with a B.A. in Education in 1955. She is survived by her Husband Gail of 52 years of marriage, her 3 sons Scott, Mike and Will, her 2 sisters, Frances and Catherine, her 2 brothers, Alvin and Glenn and her 2 grandchildren Douglas and Sarah. Originally from Virginia she moved some, living on both coasts of our great country finally settling in Novato, CA for her last 37 years. She was an accomplished artist which greatly influenced her life. Her family was her priority but she dedicated the majority of her life to others through teaching, counseling, the Stephen Ministries and church. She was loving, tender and gentle with a contagious sense of humor. She was our family "Agent" teaching us how to navigate life according to the Bible. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 11:00 am PDT at the Novato Presbyterian Church of Novato, 710 Wilson Ave., Novato, CA 94948.
