Ned was a perfect gentleman. Even at the end of his life he greeted everyone in his gentleman way, always opened the door for others and thanked people with his warm smile. I feel honored that I was able to know Ned and his kind devoted wife and kids. He was a pleasure! I hope he is enjoying all of the chocolate cookies he desires! My thoughts are with you Norma and family.

I don't remember how I started calling Norma, my godmother, "Gee" (with a hard "g"). It sounds like something I may have uttered as a pre-verbal infant, when we first met. It was some years later that I must have had just enough words, cognition, and exposure to the concept in church of "God the Father" to conclude that the husband of my godmother must be God. "Gee and God" were referred to often and affectionately in our house, down the street from theirs.
When I was a college student in East Africa, I lived for a little while in a village where each of the children referred to each of the men (other than one's father) as an uncle. I am sad that one of the uncles from my village is gone.
Dear Catlin and Chute families; Elizabeth, Davey, Charlie, and your families; and Gee, you are in my thoughts and heart.
Love,
Kathryn
