Edna Jones

Edna Jones, 94, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, in Wethersfield, Connecticut. Born on December 17, 1930, in Fulton, Mississippi, she lived a long and full life marked by resilience, candor, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of everyday living.

Edna was the daughter of Sally Mae Johnson and John Stone. Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to her roots in Mississippi while forging meaningful relationships across generations and geographies. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clifton Jones and her longtime companion Felix Cobbs. She also mourned the loss of her daughter JoAnn Clay and her sisters Cornelius Stone and Mary Pounds.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Mary Elizabeth Cockrell; her sister Nancy Wilson; nephew Ricky Stone and his wife Doris of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; nieces Maisy and Daisy Stone of Fulton, Mississippi; grandchildren Timothy Clay, Felix Jones, Glen Allen Clay, Stephanie Clay, Kelvin Nix, Jonathan Jones, Lana Clay, Ray Hicks, Novelette Pryce, and Elizabeth Cockrell; as well as 11 great-grandchildren who brought joy to her later years as well as Many Family and Friends of the Cobbs Family and all those That Truly Cared for Her.

Edna had a vibrant personality that left an impression on everyone she met. She was known for speaking her mind with honesty and conviction-never one to hold back when something needed to be said. Her straightforward nature was matched by a warm heart that made her presence unforgettable.

She found joy in life's small pleasures: reading books from the library with enthusiasm for every genre; visiting the hairdresser to keep herself looking sharp; doing her nails with care; window shopping just for the fun of it; playing spades with friends or family; and listening to old-school music that stirred memories of days gone by.

Her legacy lives on through those who knew and loved her-a testament to a life lived authentically and fully. May her memory bring comfort to all whose lives she touched.
