Edward Boseker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 30, 2008.
Boseker, Edward H. M.D., 71, passed away of a heart attack on January 27, 2008. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Helen and Herbert Boseker on February 16, 1936. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelors of Science in Geology in 1958, and went on to medical school at Indiana University where he met his wife, Yvonne, who was in nursing school at the time. He graduated from medical school in 1962, and later began his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Mayo Clinic. In 1967, he finished his training and moved to California to start his private practice. He worked in Santa Ana specializing in disorders of the spine for the last 36 years, and as his patients and family will attest, he was devoted to his work in orthopedics. He and his wife raised 4 daughters, Andrea, Susan, Resa, and Tanya. As a father, he enjoyed helping with math and science homework, and was especially excited to participate in any science projects. Over the years, he had many varied interests and hobbies. He owned a ranch in Temecula and enjoyed weekend farming for many years. He was a Tustin School Board Member for 9 years and served as president twice. He enjoyed model trains and spent countless hours designing and building an enormous N-scale layout at home with his grandsons. Ed looked forward to traveling in his motor home and spending time at Lake James in Indiana each summer with his children and grandchildren. He had a great appreciation for early California art, and was a current member of the Laguna Art Museum Board of Trustees. He maintained a close relationship with the Mayo Clinic over the years, and was a member of the Doctors Mayo Society. He and his wife are Principal Benefactors of the Mayo Clinic. His interest in the Boy Scouts of America led to his desire to endow the Inland Empire Boy Scouts who often camped on his ranch. The Boseker Scout Reservation at Camp Emerson and Camp Brown near Idyllwild carries his name. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (married for 45 years) a brother, 4 daughters, and 9 grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all his friends and family. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 31st, 4-8 p.m. Services will be held Friday, February 1st, 10:30 a.m., both at Fairhaven Memorial Park and Mortuary. 1702 Fairhaven Ave, Santa Ana 92705, with a reception to follow. Contributions in his memory can be made to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org or the American Diabetes Association at www.diabtes.org Fairhaven Memorial Park

My deepest condolences to Dr. Ed's family, his wife, Yvonne, 4 daughters, and his grandchildren. He left us unfortunately, way too soon, but he did accomplish a great deal in his life. I worked with Dr. Ed up until his passing. You can tell at his service how much family, friends and co-workers really cared about him. He was a hard-working doctor who really cared about his patients, smart, communicative, and loved his life stories. He will be missed and not forgotten because of the kind person he was to everyone. God Bless!

Our sincere sorrow and prayers are with Andrea and the entire Boseker Family. Even though we did not know Dr. Boseker well, we will always remember him as not only an accomplished man, but also one who was generous, hospitable and loved his family dearly. A few years ago, we stopped by Lake James with our grandchildren to see Andrea, Mike and children. Dr. Boseker and Yvonne went out of their way to make us welcome and he even took us for a boat ride. May your memories always give you comfort.
God Bless you all, Jim & Carolyn Neely (Cathy Boone's sister)
