Edward L. Brewer

Edward L. Brewer, 68, of Wheatland, Iowa, died on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at his home with his family by his side. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Clinton Hospice or Durant VFW.
He was born on March 4, 1935, in Salina, Kan., the son of Lucy (Schaffer) and Edward Brewer Sr.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Edward Brewer was united in marriage to Jean Secoy in February 1958 in Davenport. She preceded him in death Jan. 4, 1980. He then married Betty Mayo on May 13, 1989, in Istanbul, Turkey.
He was employed as a scale technician for Oscar Mayer for 33 years, retiring in 1984.
He enjoyed traveling in his motorhome.
He was a member of the Davenport Moose Lodge.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving and devoted wife, Betty; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Allan Ward, Park View, Iowa, and Becky and Joel Hall, Princeton, Iowa; two stepsons, Billy Mayo, Davenport, and Gary Mayo, Geneseo, Ill.; four grandchildren, Jackie Wolf, Emilie Ward, Austin (AJ) Hall, Nathan Hall and Joshua Mayo; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann Arme, and husband, John, Dewey, Ariz., Gloria Allen, and husband, Tom, Lady Lake, Fla., and Robert Brewer, and wife, Doris, of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald.
