Shocked & stunned to hear of Ed's passing - I always thought one day we would meet again, as 2 young boys in Africa Ed with QSO & myself as a young engineer, we spent mant many good times together in Gwoza where he taught me how to ride a horse among other things, such a gentle giant!, as I had hope we would meet one day in our travels so sad so young to leave us a heart of gold we are heartbroken!.

Our Deepest Sympathy goes out to you. We are keeping you very close to us in our thoughts and our prayers. We volunteered many hours with Ed at St. Angela School. He was not only a mentor for me to follow, but a very dear friend as well. We spent many hours coordinating activities, and talking on various topics. The world was so lucky that God had leant him to us, even if it was such a short time. He is in heaven now watching over you both. And has left an amazing legacy. What a "Truly Remarkable Man" Good-bye my friend.

I remember Ed with such fondness as he played a disciple in Love According To John and I played Mother Mary. What a joy he was to work with, the gentleness of his nature, as we shared the love of God through this Easter Play.

I remember in Grade 1 we had a project about the book the giving tree. We went into his classroom and i was incapable of building a tree so Mr. Carson gave me his instead of mine which was falling apart. Probably one of the most caring souls out there.

What a truly beautiful human being Ed was, and what a legacy he leaves behind for others to follow. God used him mightily in this life, and his willing sevice is an inspiration to us all. The seed he planted among so many young lives will bear much fruit as those he has touched, in turn, touch others. God bless you Ed. God give you comfort, Maria Elena and Quetzala, our deepest sympathies for your loss. Ed was a desciple and soldier in "Love According to John", he was God's desciple and soldier in life. Edward lived his everyday with a sense of justice and love for all those around him, no matter what adventures he undertook. While those of us left behind mourn his passing, we are sure that he is embarking on his greatest adventure yet.

All of our Love Edward. He was one of my most respected role-models and leaves a legacy for all of us to live up to.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Marie-Elena and Quetzala Maria and family,
Ed will continue to inspire me and one and all of all ages. I have many thoughts and images that bring thoughts of tears and Joy.
Ed knew how to live the ordinary and make many moments extra-ordinary. So to Marie-Elena and Quetsala Maria, I recall meeting you in 1987. You came to pray with and for the L'Arche Community of Edmonton.
I would like to express gratitude to Ed for believing in all the people and all the things Ed celebrated. I wish to thank you for your generosity.
I believe Ed was a humble peacemaker and I am grateful for moments spent with each of you.

I will always remember Eduardo's shining face and the joy he gave to the kids of Managua - I can still see him driving his truck full of kids from the Centre to the beach, to the market, to events. He made such an impact on the lives of children who had come from less than perfect situations; he also made a huge impact on those of us Canadians living and working in Nicaragua during the years that Ed was also there.
