Edward James Donovan III

Tucson - Edward James Donovan III, age 78, of Tucson, Arizona passed away peacefully on November 28, 2020.

Ed was born to Edward and Estelle Donovan on June 27, 1942 in Orange, New Jersey. He graduated from Scotch Plains High School in 1960 and from Lafayette College and the ROTC program in 1964. Ed served in the United States Army at Fort Richardson Alaska as a Second Lieutenant from 1966 to 1968. After the army, he received his MBA from Seton Hall University. He began his successful career in Financial Management at Texas Instruments and retired from Owens Corning in 2001.

Ed was a man who lived every day to the fullest. He had a spirit that created a passion for his family, friends, work, travel and competition. He was always bringing people together and building teams — from playing capture the flag games with the neighborhood kids to team building events with his employees to vacationing with friends and family. Ed's love of soccer and coaching transformed a youth soccer team into a High School Soccer Program in Newark, Ohio. He also had a love for reading and enjoyed playing tennis, basketball, softball, working out, swimming and hiking but, his number one passion was spending time with his family.

Ed made a positive impact in his lifetime. His spirit, leadership and sense of fairness will live on in those who knew him.

Ed Donovan was preceded in death by his father Edward J. Donovan II. He is survived by his wife Lynne of 55 years, children Gayle McCullough (J.R.), Craig Donovan (Veronica), Jill Boffa (Dan), mother Estelle, sister Diane Deren (Chris) and grandchildren Hayley and Morgan McCullough, Connor and Ella Donovan and Luke and Matt Boffa.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts can be made to St. Benedict's Prep (www.sbp.org/thanks) in his honor.
