Edward (Eddie) Collins Obituary
From his early days performing with the Soul Febreze in South Carolina to becoming the lead singer for The Satisfaction preforming from New York to Chicago, Eddie's journey in music was vibrant and expansive. He later captivated audiences in Green Bay with his one-man shows before becoming a celebrated fixture at Fox Hills Country Club and Resort. Manager Louie Elia brought him to Illinois, where he earned his title of Singer Extraordinaire he continued to perform at various shows and festivals throughout the Chicagoland area. Later he joined The Legendary Drifters and performed with them. Eddie's performances were not just concerts; they were profound experiences that ensured attendees left with a smile. When Eddie wasn't on the stage, he was driving bus for Aries shuttle at the Chicago O'Hare airport.
Eddie is survived by his life partner, Marie Lesperance; their daughter, Marissa; his daughter Alicia Collins; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother, John Collins (Philicia); his brother, Malverse Collins (Pat), his sister, Ruby Miller (Robert), and a vast circle of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) Collins and Jessie Scott.
A celebration of Eddie's life will be held at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E Rand Rd in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, 60056. Friday, September 27th, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., with a memorial service scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. His legacy of melody and warmth will resonate with those he touched through his music and his generous spirit.
Everyone is invited out after to Stawberry Moon Martini Bar in Wauconda IL, where Bill will be dedicating his show for the evening too Eddie.

Furthermore a Celebration of Life will be held in South Carolina October 19, 2024. Location to be determined.

Eddie's family I am Harold Wilson the years I've known Eddie and sang with him in Chicago area He's always been a blessing .I really groove just being around him and his musical style He's in a place where he always has audiences smiling with this angelic deep tenor sometimes baritone voice . He will always be my prayers. May God's blessings Be with his friends and family .

Our condolences to Ed's family, daughters, Marie, his siblings, Aunt, and the other host of friends. Ed has been a great friend for 2 decades, mentoring and embracing my son from a young age, encouraging him to be his own man, just everything you want in a role model. He called my mom to cheer her up through a couple of hospital stays, even showing up to pick on her the way only he could, to make her laugh and go for a walk in the hall and "get on to the healing part". Ed was one of a kind, and is a true loss to all who knew him. Rest in peace, my friend.

I am blessed. Many people don´t get to have relationships with one or two parents.. I got two sets. You taught me everything I know about performing, everything you could teach me I was eager to learn. I´m going for it dad. For you, I am going to give it my all. I love you daddy. Forever and ever.

I first heard Ed Collins sing at Gianotti's Restaurant and thought, oh my God this singer has such a great voice. From then on I was hooked on hearing Ed sing and heard him regularly there and 3 Olives. We had a group of regulars and we always had a blast. I have such good memories and those places and then over the years he was a regular at Chicago Prime Steakhouse and the good times continued. I hope Ed knew how much we all loved him and how much joy he brought to us with his music. Rest in peace, my dear friend!

I saw Eddie perform regularly in the Chicagoland area. After performing on many occasions we'd have a drink at the bar. He was one of my favorite local entertainers.

Ed was a significant part of our family. He was the Godfather to our daughters, as I Marissa. He was a mentor to Hope and Paiton, and a special bond was shared by all 3.
We shared laughter and tears, memories, lectures and inside jokes as a family in the 3 decades the Lord blessed us with.
I'm thankful to have been with Ed as he entered heaven.
It was a blessing to have been your friend, more so family.
Love you forever.
I'll take over your duties to Marie and Marissa now. Rest easy my friend.
