Ed was so wonderful for keeping all MHS Alumni in touch with other alumni. Good news and bad ones was written to us by Ed. He was a great Master of Ceremonies and a super storyteller. Ed had a terrific sense of humor. Ed you are missed.

Charlie Simpson (Carol Collins husband)

I met my wife of almost 64 years, Caol Elaine Collins Simpson when she was a Senior, on her 17th birthday on September 20, in 1958. We were married in 1960, and spent the next 29 years traveling the world in the Air Force. Carol kept up with her classmates, and after we retired to Colorado in 1989, we got involved in her class reunions through Eddie's great efforts keeping her class informed. We attended a lot of class reunions, and Eddie (and Millie) quickly welcomed me to the MHS 59 family. I lost Carol to Alzheimers a year ago, but right up to the end, she insisted I read every email we got about her class.

Ed and I became the best of friends when we fist met in the 7th grade at Citrus Grove. He could throw a football 40 yards and I could catch his long passes. However, our friendship was much more than playing on the athletic field. He was the most popular kid in school. I was very shy and nerdy. Yet, because of his kind heart he took me under his "wing" and over the years, because of him I became a better person. I will always love and remember him.

Ed was a generous, friendly Brighton neighbor. As fellow walkers I would see Ed and Millie on Danbury Mill Road and of course in Brighton.
Ed and I danced together at Alto on Deb and Dave´s first gig there. I saw his smiling face each month after that. I will think of him and his smile when I sing the songs he loved.

I fondly remember our car pool days to the Men's Club and pleasant visits while there. He was known by so many people at the Club. He was known on our block as the paper man. since he would carry the paper to everyone's front porch from the street. We will all miss him dearly. Bob & Louise Wind

Eddie & I met as fifth graders at Kensington Park. On to Citrus Grove where he became a student leader and an outstanding and gifted athlete. I believe he held the state title for shot put in his class. During an awards assembly, our PE Instructor said he was the greatest athlete he had ever coached. A fantastic tribute. We followed to Miami High.
Student leader, recipient of the first Miami Herald Silver Knight Award for Citizenship, loved and respected by all. We graduated and went our separate ways, Ed to the FBI and I to Secret Service. We renewed our acquaintances and friendship by coincidence. Ed was attending a conference in Tampa with a local Secret Service official; my name came up and the rest is history once again. I was privileged to attend many of the reunions led by Ed, Milly and the committee. As emcee, he was instrumental in a instant, bringing our past good times, friendships. and perhaps a few downers. All in all, his friendship and warmth clung to all of us. My dear friend, colleague and all around decent human being rest in eternal peace. I extend to Milly and the family, my deepest and heartful condolences.

I met Ed when I was transferred to Tampa from New York in 1991. Ed was the consummate professional. He was always smiling. After he retired, we shared many emails and he frequently sent me photos of old Miami, where I had grown up. In a nod to the small world we live in, while we were still working, my cousin from Virginia came to live with me for a year after her mother passed. She got a job at a local hotel where she met a wonderful group of friends. One of her coworkers was Amy Fleck. They remain friends to this day. My sincere condolences to Amy, Millie, and the entire Fleck family. Ed was a true gentleman. It was an honor to have known him.

My deepest condolences to Ed's family. I worked with Ed in Tampa, and was always impressed at his dedication to the job. He was a great mentor to young applicants. I followed Ed's path to becoming a Special Agent by working as a clerk while attending college. I can attest it's a tough ride, but totally worth it. May he rest in peace.

I am so saddened by Ed´s passing. As the applicant coordinator in the Tampa Field Office, Ed was responsible for coordinating my transfer from the San Francisco Field Office back in 1982. After he retired and began doing background investigations as a contractor, I would occasionally see him when he would come into the U.S. Attorney´s Office, where I was working, and we would chat. Ed was good natured and always so friendly. It was like seeing an old friend again. Later, he convinced me to join the North Tampa Chapter of NARFE where he was the President. It was there I became acquainted with his lovely wife, Milly. My sincerest condolences to Milly and the rest of the Fleck family. We lost a gem of a guy. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

My deepest condolences to the Fleck family. Ed is a legend in the FBI, having recruited and processed hundreds of Agents. His legacy lives on in the organization. Rest easy brother, we have the watch.

Ed was very instrumental in my decision to pursue a career in the Bureau - for that I am most grateful. He was kind, upbeat, and extremely helpful - attributes in a lovely man that I haven't forgotten 45 years later.

Words are hard to come by today. Thinking about the contributions our Eddie made in this life. He was the kindest of men and always made you feel like you mattered to him. Eddie will be tremendously missed by family, friends, and all who knew this warm friendly man. My heart goes out to you, Millie, been there too. I know well your pain. My deepest condolences to you and all your family on the great loss of this lovely man. RIP, dear Eddie.

Dearest Fearless Leader, you were always there for me and kept me dotting the i's and crossing the t's as together we planned many a mini reunion for our MHS group of beloved classmates. We will all miss your leadership and of course the jokes. You are a shining star of achievement and kindness. With love always and forever for you, Milly and your devoted family.
