Edward J. Gorman, 68, died peacefully on Dec. 23, 2017 while in the care of his family after a lengthy illness. Ed was the loving son of the late Edward and Ellen (Connell) Gorman and grew up in Park Ridge, N.J. After graduating from Seton Hall University he embarked on a 45 year career in food service, retiring as district manager from Sodexo. In the 1970s he met his future wife at a college in West Virginia. Edward and Jean would marry on January 17, 1976 and relocate to Mass. and the two would raise their daughter in Bridgewater. He would always be well dressed and was passionate about work, horses, and spending time at the track with his friends. One of the best days of his life was when his granddaughter Anna was born. Ed shared a love of horses with his wife and daughter and they often traveled to Lake George during the summer and would visit his old friends in Saratoga. Ed was the loving husband of C. Jean Gorman of Bridgewater and father of Michele M. Haley and her husband George of Bridgewater. Loving step-father of Edward K. Bailey and his wife Susan of Va., Kimberly L. Allman of WV, and Teresa L. Hart and her husband Rick of WV. Loving Papa of Anna and step-grandfather of 5 and step great-grandfather of 5. Brother of Catherine Venere and James of N.J., and the late Thomas Gorman. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral from the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater on Friday, Dec. 29, at 9 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial held at Holy Cross Church, 225 Purchase St. Easton at 10 a.m. and burial held at Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Visitation held at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 28, from 4 - 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Bridgewater Fire Department Relief Fund, 22 School St., Bridgewater MA 02324. I just knew Ed from Raynham dog track and we would talk about the Marshfield Fair and reminisce of days of old.....he also bought me many a beer! Rest in piece Ed hope you have lots of winners in Heaven
