Betty Lee Kirkpatrick Samson

Betty Lee Kirkpatrick Samson, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at her granddaughter's home in Schenectady, New York.Betty was born July 26, 1926 in Weatherford, Texas to Frank Kirkpatrick and Sybil Albright Kirkpatrick.Betty graduated from High School in Roby, Texas in 1943, and attended Weatherford College in Weatherford, Texas. moved to Schenectady in 1946. She first worked at Schenectady Trust Co., and later at Balfour-Taylor in Niskayuna. Betty retired from General Electric in 1993 after 21 years as a secretary. Later, she worked for the Daily Gazette in Schenectady, NY.Betty was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Sybil Kirkpatrick; her daughter, Nancy Samson Shannon-Pacelli; and her brother, Warren Kirkpatrick.She is survived by two brothers, James (Mary Ann) Kirkpatrick of Flint, Texas and John Donald (Roberta) Kirkpatrick of Weatherford, Texas; her daughter, Barbara (Bobby) Samson Bass of Weatherford, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kelly Shannon Mattice, Rebecca (Nick) Shannon Polomaine, Jessica (Michael) Shannon, Emily Kuder, and Adam (Melissa) Shannon, all five of Schenectady, NY, plus Michael Wallace of Rochester, NY and Shelli (Joey) Wallace Johnson of Weatherford, TX. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, plus six nephews, two nieces and their children.Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, NY, on Thursday February 1, 2018 at 10 a.m. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Betty's name to the Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205.
