My sympathy to the Hahn family
I have known Ed for about 20 years.Ed was always a pleasure to be around. He was a very special person. He always remembered me when he had extra tickets to a play or concert and especially when he had an Abraham Lincoln book he knew I would enjoy. He was truly a gentleman. I will miss you Ed. Thank you for your friendship

Ed was one of the most dear people I have ever known. The Greater Pittsburgh Civil War Round Table will never be the same without him. He was always kind and thoughtful. His ever-present smile, twinkle in his eye and wry sense of humor made him so endearing. I don't know anyone who didn't love Ed. He will be sorely, sorely missed by everyone who had the good fortune to know him. His was a life well-lived. Rest in peace, dear Ed.

To all the family of Uncle Ed, We just wanted to let you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Uncle Ed will be missed. He will be greatly missed at the Flowers' renion. It was wonderful to see him there just a few weeks ago. Uncle Ed was a very special person. We are so sorry that we were not able to come to the funeral. We know that he is in a much better place now. We love all of you.

I first met Ed through the Westmoreland Archaeological Society many years ago. I was priviledged to learn a great deal of history from Ed and I treasured his friendship. My deepest sympathy to you and your families. Ed was truly a very special person.

Ed and I had attended the Bud Robertson "Campaigning with Lee" seminars for several years in the early 1980s and we became good friends at those events even before I moved to Pittsburgh in 1983. I continued to enjoy Ed's company during my years in Pittsburgh. I always looked forward to sharing a few minutes with him whenever I came back to the area from Michigan to attend a Civil War activity. After presenting my program to the GP-CWRT in June, 2008, Ed and I reminisced for an enjoyable 30 minutes about the good old days and I looked forward to exchanging with him some tape recordings of Civil War presentations. He was a kind and generous gentleman and as good a friend as any Civil Warrior might be fortunate enough to have. I will miss his smile, his ready laugh and his wit.
Sincerely,
Tom Nanzig

I worked with your parents in their card shop when I was in college in the late 70's. They were always very kind to me. I am sorry they are both gone now.

I only got to know Ed later in his life, but he was always young at heart and a joy to be around. We Civil War buffs in the Pittsburgh area will truly miss him.

I was Ed's insurance agent back in the 70's and 80's and thoroughly enjoyed working with him and the entire family. He will be missed. He was a wonderful guy.
