HALL EDWARD ELI
95, formerly of the Pittsburgh area, died at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Country Acres Personal Care Home in Titusville. Mr. Hall was born on May 3, 1912 at Osceola Mills, PA, a son of the late Eli A. and Elizabeth Gardner Hall. He was married to Gertrude Burns on Aug. 31, 1936 in Osceola Mills, PA. She preceded him in death on May 13, 1996. Mr. Hall was a graduate of the Osceola Mills High School and a graduate of Penn State University, class of 1934 earning his degree in metallurgical engineering. Following college, he worked briefly for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In November of 1935 he was hired by Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. in Bridgeville as a metallurgist. After 10 years at Bridgeville, he relocated to Titusville as the chief metallurgist. In 1955 he moved into the sales department as the director of technical sales for Cyclops. He moved back to the Bridgeville headquarters in 1960 as the assistant general sales manager. He retired in May of 1977 after 41 1/2 years with Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Bethel Park. While residing in Titusville he was a member of the Titusville First United Methodist and a trustee of the church. He was the last member of the Titusville First United Methodist Church Building Committee which was responsible for the rebuilding of the church following the fire in 1953. He was a former member of the Chartiers County Club and the Duquesne Club while working in the Pittsburgh area. He enjoyed accounting, reading, watching Penn State and Steelers football. Mr. Hall is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Rainey of Pleasantville and Mrs. Dorothy Fair of Bridgeville; three grandchildren, Dr. Cynthia Raposas and her husband Dr. Angel Raposas of Holidaysburg, Dr. David M. Rainey and his wife Karen of Daniels, WV, and Susan Kim and her husband Jong Hoon of Champagne, Ill.; seven great grandchildren, Catherine Anne, Emily Elizabeth, and Heather Grace Rainey, Christine Elizabeth and Rachel Lena Raposas, Gina Irene and Sunnah Carrellyn Kim; a cousin, Emily Blackwood of Springfield, OH; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Francis Hall; and two sons-in-law, Carrell I. Rainey and Thomas F. Fair. Friends may call at the GORDON B. GARRETT FUNERAL HOME, 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service on Sunday at 3:00 PM at the Titusville First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bill Blair, pastor, and Rev. Richard Burns, nephew of Mr. Hall, officiating. Interment will be in Umbria Cemetery, Osceola Mills, Clearfield County.
