HAWKER, Edward George (Ted)
August 26, 1926 - August 14, 2011
Ted Hawker, beloved husband of Emily Hawker of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the age of 84 years. Ted was born in Arcola, Saskatchewan where he spent his youth. On his eighteenth birthday, Ted enlisted in the Army and did his training in British Columbia and Manitoba. On December 24, 1948, Ted married Emily Kovach in St. Mary's Cathedral in Calgary. He worked the majority of his life in the retail grocery industry and completed his career as a janitor at SAIT. Ted is survived by his wife Emily, daughter Carol (Phil) Rix and son Ron (Alex) Hawker. He is also survived by his grandchildren Amanda Rix, Jacqueline Rix, Charlie Hawker and Amelia Hawker. Ted was predeceased by his parents Bill and Kathleen Hawker and his brother Larry Hawker. A private family Service was held as requested by Ted. We are grateful for the gentle and loving care provided by the health professionals on Unit 32 at the Foothills Hospital. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . In living memory of Ted Hawker, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park, Cochrane.
