Edward G. Jasper

Over the past several days, many wonderful things have been said and written about Ed Jasper. Perhaps, one of the highest compliments is the fact that many of the individuals he sat across from at bargaining tables showed up at his wake or called to offer their condolences and tell stories of how much integrity and honor he displayed although they were in opposition. Other co-workers, neigbors (past and present) and friends showed to provide support to the family and honor Ed.



All of these people knew Ed for the kind, fair, honorable man he was. But, I was a member of a small group of 3 who knew him as their loving father. My Dad was generous, thoughtful, caring and always above board with me and anyone else he dealt with. He treated my friends as his own children and ALWAYS wanted the best for us and would do whatever he could to promote our well being. He was one of a kind and although the pain of his loss is great, I am privledged to have him as my role model and hope that I will be able to make a mark on the lives of others like he has. I know with time, the hurt will heal and all that will be left is wonderful memories. My father certainly left me a lot of wonderful memories. Thank you to all who have taken the time to sign his book and offer your thoughts, it is truly appreciated.

I feel so lucky that in the last few years of his life I was able to spend so much time with Uncle Eddie. I am so proud that he was a member of my family. His union leadership, army service, fatherhood, and general salt-of-the-earth personality are badges of pride for our family. It was such a pleasure to get to know him and to have him know me. He will be sorely missed.

I will always have the fondest memories of Uncle Eddie, my very favorite uncle. I loved him for his honesty and authenticity. He always let you know where he stood, and he never put on any airs. He knew what was important in life, and he had the greatest of principles. I loved my uncle for the wonderful person he was, and I will miss him terribly.

To me, he was my Uncle Eddie. I feel very luck to have known him and to have loved him. We will miss you! Love, Meredith

Truly a great man.Uncle Eddie wasa great father, grandfather and a really great uncle. He will be terribly missed by all.

I have so many wonderful memories of my Uncle Eddie. I am so happy that I was able to spend so much time with him over the last 21/2 years. His humor, his conviction to do the right thing and his love of family was so very strong. I loved our political conversations and his stories of the Jasper and Alfred families, and I admired his incredible strength. My uncle was a real fighter. I will miss miss him greatly.

My sister and I are extremely fortunate to have known Ed and Gen and our family sends our deepest sympathies to the Jaspers. We will always miss him as a good friend and as a fellow union member. Our prayers are with you.
