On September 16, 2025, Edward S. Kang completed his earthly journey in
Oviedo, Florida. Born on November 17, 1975, in Chicago, Illinois, Ed lived a life grounded in devotion to family, a love for music and the beauty of nature, and a generosity that touched all who knew him.
Ed earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Towson University in 1998. A devoted provider who worked tirelessly with integrity and heart, he gave freely of himself with purpose and care. Yet beyond his professional life, it was his role as a father that defined him most deeply.
Ed is survived by his sons - Eli, Riley, Andrew, and Joseph - who were the center of his world; his daughters-in-law, Jade and Amanda; and his grandchildren - Archer, Emilia, and Halle - who extended his heart and filled his life with renewed meaning, purpose, and love. He also shared a unique and enduring bond with his former wife, Michelle, which remained an important part of his journey. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Mun Ja Kang; his aunt and uncle, Haesook and Edward Connington; his brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Kelly Kang; and his nephew, Christopher Kang, who held a special place in his heart as his very first love. He was also embraced by his parents-in-law, Thomas and Betty Calton; his sister- and brother-in-law, Betty and Ronnie Smith; his brother-in-law, Carl Gonzalez; and his many nieces and nephews - Topher, Crissa, Cassie, Addison, Kaeligh, Cavin, Aiden, and Gabby - all of whom he loved deeply. Through changing seasons, Ed continued to show up for the entire family, a testament to the unique bond and loyalty that defined him.
Ed was a devoted father. He never missed a chance to cheer from the sidelines, share his sharp, witty humor on family trips, or simply be present - always making his boys feel seen and loved. Above all, his most meaningful purpose was the bond between Ed and his son, Eli. - deep, fierce, and overflowing with love, the very heartbeat of his world.
A man of many passions, Ed found peace and inspiration in the beauty of nature. He loved hiking and traveling, often finding happiness in discovering new places - and even greater happiness in sharing them, watching loved ones experience the wonder he had once felt. A proud Deadhead, he carried the music of the Grateful Dead as a soundtrack to life, believing in its power to heal and connect. His curiosity also found expression in quieter moments - he was an avid watcher of documentaries, always eager to learn more about the world around him.
A loyal fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles, Ed enjoyed sports both as a player and a spectator, treasuring the laughter and camaraderie of friends and family.
Ed's spiritual journey was one of reflection and growth. His path through recovery brought him strength and peace, and his belief in something greater than himself guided him through life's challenges. At times supported by a mentor, he sought meaning through faith, resilience, and compassion.
Generosity was at the heart of Ed's character. He gave freely of his time, attention, and talents - not out of duty, but from a genuine desire to lift others up. Family remained his greatest purpose, and the values he instilled - kindness, perseverance, and love - will continue through those whose lives he touched.
May Edward's memory bring comfort to all who knew him, and may the music he loved continue to echo in the hearts of those he left behind.
