Edward Kania Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 31, 2010.
MERIDEN - Edward W. Kania, 82, beloved husband for 39 years to Carol (Dimock) Kania, died suddenly on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010. He was the only son of the late Stephanie Brys Kania and Walter Kania.

He loved all who knew him. With fond memories of his warm smile and great sense of humor, he will be sorely missed. Ed was employed by Central Motor Supply, Cooke's Equipment and in his retirement Fazzino Auto. As a young man Ed spent many hours at the Boys' Club of Meriden. He served as a lifeguard for the State of Connecticut from Black Rock to Rocky Neck. He was most proud of his service to the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. In his later years he served as chaplain for the P.L.A.V. Post 189 in Meriden.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Cindy Kania and Susan Kania-Betts and her husband, Jeffrey Betts, of Meriden; two grandchildren, Rachel and Isaac Betts; and his dear sister, Jean Femia. He leaves many nieces and nephews whom he loved greatly.

Per Ed's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Funeral services and burial will be private. Family will receive relatives and friends at his home on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, from 1 to 4 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden. www.jferryfh.com

To Aunt Carol, Cindy and Susan and family, Uncle Ed was very special. He was a wonderful brother to my mom and the uncle who always had fun and was fun to be around. Honest, loyal and true - you will be missed, but always loved. Karen, Marty, Stephanie and Eric Zeiser
