I was a student of Prince K in 1974-1975. His class was my brightest spot of the day; he challenged us, engaged us and made an impact I carried on into a teaching career 7 years later. Something just reminded me of him, and I found this while searching his name. To his family and to the St Vincent family he was a force, a leader and a friend. He´s a teacher I never forgot. Thank you Prince K!

I remember Prince K with fond RSS from my years at SVDPHS. We would spend time talking about his time at St. Gabe's and SI, as I had many family members from that area in the City. I will remember your family in my prayers.

I have many fond memories of my high school history teacher Mr. Kavanaugh. He had a great sense of humor; when I had a typo in a paper about WWII saying the big Japanese attacked...and left out the word "ship", he said, "how big was he? " I also clearly remember him reading about the atrocities of what were done to the Jewish people- not shying away from a difficult topic that we needed to learn from, so it is not repeated. Both of these moments and many others inspired me as I later became a teacher. I was also honored to have his son Geoff as a classmate. Mr. Kavanaugh was a great man, and I pray that wonderful memories fill the gaps in your hearts and lives. With blessings of peace, Michelle Fountain, St. Vincent´s Class of 1983.

Ed Kavanaugh hired me to teach at St Vincent's in March of 1987, and that started a terrific working relationship and later, a friendship that lasted until I left CA in 2005. A tremendous boss, educator, leader and friend. Every person who came in contact with Ed, was a better person for it. RIP Ed...you ran the good race.

Ed Kavanaugh was a living legend. Here´s how I know that. Today I mentioned to my oral surgeon that his old high-school principal had passed away. The surgeon replied: "I know - he taught me history and my dad history at St. Vincent´s. A great educator and stellar person." My case rests.

A wonderful educator and an impressive person. He was the principal for my High School years and he always knew when to push, when to step back and when to step up. He made learning interesting. My sincere condolences to his family, my prayers are with you during this difficult time. He will be remembered fondly and missed greatly.
