KEANE--Edward Webb, died on July 24 in his long-time home on Gramercy Park in New York City at the age of 87. Ted Keane was born in Detroit and raised in New York and Connecticut. He graduated from the Phillips Exeter Academy (1948) and Harvard College (1952), served with the US Army in Korea, and attended Harvard Law School (1957), where he was president of the Harvard Law Review editorial board. After clerking for Justice William Brennan at the Supreme Court, he went on to a career at Sullivan and Cromwell. Among his many offices, he was a warden at Grace Church on Broadway. A singer in his youth, he had a deep passion for classical music, especially opera. Mary, his beloved wife of 60 years, whom he tended with great tenderness during her long illness, preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Webb Keane, Jennie Dalton, and Metthea Baker, eight grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren. A memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
