CRYSTAL LAKE - Edward J. Kus, 80, of Crystal Lake, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry.

He was born Oct. 5, 1926, in Chicago, to Xavier and Eleanor Kus.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Genevieve Paul on June 30, 1951, in Chicago.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Genevieve; his children, Edward (Kathleen) Kus of Glen Ellyn, Deborah (Jerry) Voborsky of Craig, Colo., Thomas (Kathy) Kus of Walworth, Wis., Scott (Peggy) Kus of Harvard and Ronald (Donna) Kus of McHenry; 11 grandchildren, Robert (Mary), Tina (Eric), Vincent (Katherine), April, Amber, Ted, Natalie, Alecia, RJ, Nicole and Brooke; two stepgrandsons, Jonathan and Steven; and three great-grandsons, Max, London and Dominic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 11 brothers and sisters; his son, Richard; and his granddaughter, Heather.

The visitation will be from 8 a.m. until the prayer service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.

Interment will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

My deepest symphathies for your loss. Ed's family and mine go back a long way. We have not seen each other for many many years. I can remember the tavern and their small apartment in the rear. Virgie and a group of us would sit on the bench between the buidling and Rockwell. Such good memories. Love

So Sorry to hear about the loss. He always seemed to be a friendly out going person. He will be greatly missed by all! I was so glad to have the oportunity to share in his life. I will pray for him and the family so they can get through this ordeal.
