Edward M. "Ed" Callahan

CALLAHAN, Edward M. 'Ed', of Medford, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2023 with his loved ones by his side. Ed was born in Cambridge to the late Charles Callahan and Margaret (Leary). He was married to his beloved wife Jean C. Callahan (Fothergill) for 39 years and was the proud father of Kim Callahan of Woburn, and Chrissy Arsenault and her husband Dave of Billerica. Ed was the devoted son in law of the late John and Jean Fothergill; the brother of Charles Callahan; and the brother in-law of John Fothergill II, Tom Fothergill, Kathy Fothergill, Danny Fothergill, and Joe Fothergill and his wife Nancy. He is also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

Ed served Brandeis University's police department for 42 years and worked as the Chief of Police/Director of the Department of Public Safety for the last 23 years of his tenure. In this role, he mentored a number of colleagues and students, leaving an invaluable mark on the lives of many.

Above all, Ed enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughters and son-in-law, and watching old movies.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut Street, ARLINGTON, on Friday, December 22nd, from 4-7PM. Ed's Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Agnes Church, 30 Medford Street, Arlington, on Saturday, December 23rd at 10AM. The Mass will be live streamed on www.cparl.org.
