Edward Mohamed Attee

Edward Mohamed Attee, aged 82, passed away on August 6, 2025, in Dimondale, Michigan while in hospice care. Born on May 18, 1943, Ed's life was marked by a big personality and a diverse career path.

Ed was born in Dearborn, MI and grew up in Dearborn's Southend. He attended Fordson High School, where he excelled in sports. He played football, basketball and ran track. He won All City in track and football, earning him a football scholarship to Ferris University where he was one of very few players to make the varsity team as a freshman. A broken wrist ended his college football career even before he got to play his first game. His talents in sports took him through high school, college and beyond, where he won many trophies, was named Four County Arm Wrestling Champion in Remus, MI in 1980 and was inducted into the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Department's Hall of Fame in 2013 for Excellence in Sports.

Ed had a good sense of humor and an easy laugh and was well known for being physically strong and very stubborn. He was generous at times, liked to be noticed, and aimed for cunning in his endeavors. In his early adult life, Ed served 2 years in the Army as a lab technician and medic, educational challenges he enjoyed. He worked in various roles ranging from selling vacuums door-to-door, working at Ford Motor Company, farming, selling vitamins and running a gas station. Sales was definitely his forte and he had a successful stint in real estate. His predominant work was in construction and carpentry, which he had to give up mid-life due to a severe injury. Ed was an avid reader, liked animals, watching Jeopardy and old movies, building things and enjoyed gardening, despite his dislike for most vegetables.

Ed is survived by his children Deanna Attee; Edward A. Attee, Phillip (Mallory Grattan) Attee, and Xavier (Natalie) Attee; step-son Erik (Chantelle) Benko; siblings Betty (Joseph-deceased) Sutyak and Phillip (Lorraine-deceased) Attee. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Edward M. Attee II; his parents Abraham Attee, Ruth Walch Thomas, step-father George Thomas; siblings James (Barbara-deceased) Attee, Donna (Allen Attee) Damnjanovic, Janet (Owen-deceased) Roland, and his beloved dog, Habeeb.
