Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 4, 2024.
Ed Noel was born September 28, 1937 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He attended La Grange High school in Lake Charles where he met the woman who would soon become his wife, Annie Mae, now known as Ann. In high school, Ed was known as "Cowboy" Noel and had a boxing record of 93 wins. Ed and Ann were married in January of 1956 and shortly after had their first son, Edward "Kip", in November of 1956, followed by James Tod in November 1957, and Robert Chet in May 1959.

Ed, Ann, and their three boys moved to Houston in 1960 and Ed quickly became the number one salesman for Bakers Shoes in the United States. Ed then followed Ann to Finger Furniture where he became the top salesman before being promoted to store manager. In 1977, Ed opened Noel Furniture and in the following year opened a second store with his son Tod and wife Ann. Ed loved telling jokes and entertaining anyone that would listen. He had many friends and was liked by everyone.

Ed passed away peacefully on Monday June 24, 2024. He is preceded in death by his son Kip, his sister Theresa and his grandson Christopher. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years Ann, siblings

Fred, Mary, John, James, sons Tod and RC, grandchildren Westin, Roman, Taylor, Sydney, Kathryn, and Carolyn, great grandchildren Emma and Oliver, and many friends.

Rest peacefully Ed, we love you.

On June 24, 1982, Ed Noel hired me to be Noel Furniture's bookkeeper and I have since been blessed to be part of the Noel Family the past 42 years. I treasure my fond memories of Ed. Mr. Noel was a hard worker but enjoyed having fun telling jokes and he will truly be missed.

There are so many memories of Ed and Ann for over 60 years of friendship.
The crazy times we all had together going on trips, dancing and just plain acting crazy. He made everyone laugh and especially his good buddy Earl Berns with their crazy jokes and limericks. I love you, Ed. Rest in peace and take care of your buddy. I will miss you. Marsha

Ed: Guess who I saw today?

Me: Who? (My response every single time not realizing it was the same answer since I was 5 or 6 years old)

Ed: Everyone I looked at!

That pretty much sums it up. He got me every time. He was one of a kind. Would give you the shirt off his back, if you needed it. Ed and Ann have been a part of my life since before I can remember and I will cherish the memories.

Rest in peace, Ed. May your memory be a blessing. You will be greatly missed.

With love,

Melissa Bernstein Rosenberg

Ed Noel had a host of great jokes, some of them appropriate for all occasions and perhaps a few that should not be told. Ed wanted to share laughter and happiness and he did his best to do so on every occasion. As I have gotten older, I have a deeper understanding of how valuable sharing laughs can be! Thank you Ed for knowing that a smile can warm a million hearts and for sharing your smile with all! You will be missed!
